WP1 objective is to set up an effective management framework for the EESI2 consortium to ensure progress of the project towards its planned objectives and respect of contractual commitments.
The specific objectives of WP1 are:
This Work Package is divided into the following tasks:
Leader and co-leader: Philippe RICOUX (TOTAL) and Maria RAMALHO (Prace).
WP2 has different objectives:
This Work Package is divided into the following tasks:
Leader and co-leader: Philippe RICOUX (TOTAL), Ulrich Rude (U. of Erlangen).
WP3 will work on extending, refining and producing applications roadmap. WP3 will pave the path by:
This Work Package is divided into the following tasks:
Leader and co-leader: Stéphane REQUENA (PRACE – Gensi) and Norbert Kroll (DRL).
The objective of the WP is to create and manage four working groups of experts on enabling technologies for Exascale development that are considered essential for Exascale software. For example, for a long time numerical analysis addressed solvers for stochastic PDE or complex equations. Discretization is a key issue in equation resolution. The level of parallelization is clearly “physically equation dependent”. Exascale solvers require at least 1 or 2 more levels of parallelization, even when Exascale systems will be used by weak scalability.
The topics of the working groups considered in this work package are:
This Work Package is divided into the following tasks:
Leader and co-leader: Rosa Maria BADIA (PRACE – BSC) and Herbert Huber (PRACE-LRZ).
The objective of the WP is to create and manage five working groups of experts on cross cutting issues for Exascale development to push the Exascale software initiative with the objectives of:
This Work Package is divided into the following tasks:
Leader and co-leader: Giovanni ERBACCI (PRACE – CINECA) and Franck Cappello (PRACE – INRIA).
One recommendation of EESI1 is the establishment of a European Exascale Software Centre to coordinate research, development, testing, and validation of HPC Exascale software ecosystem components and modules developed in National and EU projects. To investigate the feasibility and to prepare for the operation of such a centre, WP6 objective is to:
This Work Package is divided into the following tasks:
Leader and co-leader: Bernd MOHR (PRACE – JSC) and François Bodin (CAPS).
EESI2 main objectives are to provide a vision and a roadmap to the community and R&D stakeholders. Overall synthesis will be provided on all WP activities with a particular focus on software key issues improvement (gap analysis), enabling technologies and applications, cross cutting issues advances and international aspects, leading to a global vision and perspective of Exascale software development, update world state of art and future.
These periodic recommendations should be synchronized as much as possible with EC R&D projects decision agenda.
Leader and co-leader: Philippe RICOUX (TOTAL) and Jean-Yves Berthou (ANR).
WP8 will disseminate all inputs of the project to the community. It aims at:
