FINAL EESI1 CONFERENCE - BARCELONA 10-11 OCT 2011

The EESI work and in particular the recommendations and vision have been presented during the conference, opened by M. Campolargo (European Commission DG INFSO) who recalled the importance of this event for the future and the necessity of a joint effort.

More on the European Exascale Software Initiative:

The objective of this Support Action, co-funded by the European Commission is to build a european vision and roadmap to address the challenges of the new generation of massively parallel systems composed of millions of heterogeneous cores which will provide multi-Petaflop performances in the next few years and Exaflop performances in 2020**.

  • The updated investigation report on existing HPC initiatives (deliverable D2.2) is available - download here

  • The reports prepared by the Working groups are not stabilized yet and will be made available towards the end of November.

*The speed of a supercomputer is measured in "FLOPS", FLoating Point Operations Per Second, "Petascale" supercomputers can process 1015  FLOPS. Exascale supercomputers can process 1018 FLOPS, one million teraflops.
